Eastern Arizona Scenes

Opening this blog with a desert bouquet of paintbrush establishes the winter scene a few days after the snow. East AZ is not OZ or Santa Barbara!
We camped at the Lost Dutchman State Park and traveled up into canyon country where I shot this series of photos. The recent snow and rain brightened up the greenery from bushes and grass to lime colored lichen.

Canyon Lake supplies a contrast to the desert country, especially late in the season before the monsoons begin.

Our camp view includes the Superstition Mountains where that lost mine of the "Deutsch" Man became a legend for the ages and a mystery to many who've tried tracking down the treasure to no avail.  Best gold in the area is in the early morning sunrises or the evening sunsets!
Trails begin in camp and provide many great views up desert slopes and between the rock fortresses

When sunset comes, shoot fast as that special glow lifts off the wall and heads for the sky in a few seconds. But then the night sky is not too bad either.
