Black Rock CG

"Camping" in a retirement, snow-bird town seemed a little tame so we headed up the hill to Yucca Valley. Snow on San Gorogino & the Santa Rosas provided a silver lining to the view. At the tourist center we got better service than expected and located several opportunities to take advantage of. He recommended the Black Rock Campground
just inside the Joshua Tree National Park. Quiet, and little used while we were there, we had a grand view of the valley and more hiking trails than we could put boots to. Learned a few new plants on the nature trail and took a driving loop to Pioneer Town, site of the Gene Autry and Cisco Kid films, Yippee! It's now a ghost town, but then what is the proper name for a semi-abandoned film set? There's a few businesses operating and some of the houses are occupied and the post office is in full service, so maybe ghost movie set?
