Arizona Rock Art, Tucson

Catalina State Park has a lot to offer, but get  into the regular camp ground. The overflow? It's kinda squished. Those are our three vehicles side-beside. It's a little disconcerting to be in a "wild" place like this on one side and have the city looming on the other. That was true back at Flying Dutchman SP where we were not far from Phoenix.  Here Tucson is the neighbor.

  1. Looks like these guys have been dancing for eons! But what great form. I saw some unique rock art at the Suguaro National Park last time around and we visited them again this trip, but these guys are being preserved on another site.

On the left is a larger context for the congo line. This cluster of art has hundreds of individual items!

Potshards on the ground (totally different site) illustrate how much pottery was used and eventually broke or abandoned. I left it for you to find!
The saguaro buddies are fascinating for the vague anthropomorphic shapes, though I met few people with 12 arms!
