As we near home I am reviewing the trip we have been on. The plan for this trip was minimal: Drive to Alaska. See everything. Drive back. One block of time was very highly planned out with a tour of Glacier Bay and a ride on the Columbia Ferry down the Inside Passage to Bellingham, WA. Flying back to Anchorage would complete that leg and we would be on the way home with the truck and trailer.

Now we are in Southern Oregon and have completed about 90% of the trip. I neglected the blog since early July. I’ll update in a non-linear manner. Rain and cold weather kept us inside more than we ever expected. Opportunities for paddling and hiking washed down the river day after day. Still, we looked and looked and saw wildlife and country that flowed out before us on the highway, in the air and on the water. Western North America is still a deeply gratifying region to visit.
