Redwoods

Walking among the redwoods I am always impressed. While this trip was motivated by a family reunion, this opportunity to stay in and hike the redwoods was a major reason for diverting our route from I-5 to 101. It was also so much cooler on and near the coast.

An extended downpour gave us an experience of what the inside a popcorn popper must sound like. Fog through the trees brings out the primitive feel of the forest here. Dodging giant trunks on the weaving Avenue of the Giants is to be sacrilegious in the temple of nature. Walking brings the scale of human to forest more in focus.
